Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 4 brioche buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced tomatoes
- Sliced red onions
- Ketchup and mustard for topping
- Pickles for garnish
Instructions:
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties
Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat until it's very hot
Season each patty with salt and pepper on both sides
Place the burger patties on the hot skillet and immediately press them down with a spatula to smash them flat
Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy and browned
Flip the patties and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes
Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and allow it to melt
While the cheese is melting, lightly toast the brioche buns on the skillet until they're golden brown
Assemble the burgers by placing lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, and red onions on the bottom half of each bun
Place a smashed cheeseburger patty on top of the veggies
Drizzle ketchup and mustard on top of the patty, and add pickles for garnish if desired
Top with the other half of the brioche bun
Serve hot and enjoy!
